LSI is dedicated to continual improvement in our workplace health and safety performance is driven through implementation of our Safety and Environmental Management System which is third party certified to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Key safety and health elements of the management system includes risk assessment, management of change, health and safety training, safety audits, incident investigation, management involvement and safety communications. Management of these elements has helped LSI maintain total case rates and lost time cases well below national averages for our industry. In fact, LSI had zero lost time work cases in calendar year 2010.
LSI compares its safety and health performance to benchmarks established by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Averaged over the last five years LSI’s Total Injury and Illness and Lost Time Case Rates are 60 percent below the BLS first quartile averages for semiconductor industry employers. LSI’s commitment to proactive EH&S management systems has helped us out perform our peer companies.

Ergonomics
In addition to providing ergonomics tip sheets for al employees, our program includes individual ergonomic assessments of work stations, one-on-one training, class room style training and online training.
Laboratory Safety
LSI maintains a laboratory safety program that includes training in chemical hazards, compressed gases handling, electrical safety, proper use of fume hoods and fume hood performance testing, personal protective equipment, emergency procedures, first aid and waste handling.
Emergency Response
Volunteer emergency response teams are maintained at many of our facilities. Team members receive regular company-sponsored training in CPR/AED, first aid and bloodborne pathogens. Some facilities have certified first responders and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on their teams.
General EH&S Information
In addition to training, LSI have deployed an internal comprehensive EH&S website that offers an Employee EH&S Handbook, periodic safety newsletters, ergonomics tips, emergency contacts and local EH&S procedures.
Employee Wellness
Many of our facilities conduct annual wellness fairs where employees receive free of charge cholesterol screening, diabetes screening, blood pressure checks, nutritional counseling and discounted massage therapy coupons. LSI also provides subsidized fitness center memberships as well as onsite fitness centers in our larger facilities.
