Low Power and Energy Efficient Products

LSI has made product energy consumption a major focus of its R&D efforts. We are committed to the design and delivery of low power and energy efficient data storage and networking products which provide increased functionality and performance while consuming less power than previous generation products.
LSI’s newest generation of read channel, PHY and pre-amplifier semiconductor products consume significantly less power than the previous generation by employing a holistic approach to power-efficient semiconductor design and development. We address power efficiency throughout the entire semiconductor design process focusing on the three key areas of Architecture, Implementation and Design Components.
We also continue to develop and deploy an increasing number of design tools and techniques to service the power efficient needs of semiconductor designs and partnering with the Electronic Design Automation Industry to realize power efficient design flows. These combined efforts have resulted in significant reduction of power in each succeeding product generation. LSI’s announcement of Low-Power Gigabit Ethernet PHY is an example of LSI enabling a reduction in networking switch power by 30%.
