Technology demonstrations will showcase how the LSI
® Nytro™ MegaRAID® application acceleration card and LSI
SAS6160 switch can help customers meet the demands of the global data deluge, driven by key factors such as social media, video and the mobile Internet, that is impacting datacenters and cloud environments.
At the show, LSI will demonstrate:
MySQL acceleration with the LSI Nytro MegaRAID card
Demo Description: The demo showcases how a server with the Nytro MegaRAID card installed can deliver dramatic performance gains for a typical OLTP application while preserving existing investments in hard disk drive (HDD) and RAID storage infrastructure. The Nytro MegaRAID card helps customers to accelerate database performance and provide more capacity in DAS environments.
Demo Setup: The demo consists of two servers running a MySQL database and executing the TPC-C benchmark, with Quest’s Spotlight program to display all database, operating system and storage activity in real-time. One server is using HDDs while the second, identical server is utilizing HDDs in conjunction with the Nytro MegaRAID card and caching software to intelligently cache hot data blocks onto high-performance flash storage.
Scalable, shared DAS storage with the LSI 6Gb/s SAS switch
Demo Description: SAS is growing as a popular interface for newly installed SANs due to its superior bandwidth, lower latency, ease of use and lower costs. However, there are thousands of installed SANs that utilize older, sub-optimal storage protocols, such as iSCSI.
The demo showcases how the LSI 6Gb/s SAS switch enables a scalable, lower-cost and easier-to-use storage networking option for rack-mounted server and storage installations in cloud computing, mega datacenter and small- to medium-sized business environments.
Demo Setup: The demo consists of a Chelsio iSCSI-to-SAS router, AIC cloud storage server with iSCSI interfaces and the LSI SAS6160 SAS switch to provide optimized connectivity for future system expansion.
