Abhi Talwalkar was appointed LSI President and CEO and elected to the company's board of directors in May 2005.

Since joining LSI, Talwalkar has aligned the company with key trends in IT, including the growth of cloud computing, big data and social media and the build-out of wireless networks. He has also established LSI as a leading provider of smart silicon that helps customers close the data deluge gap – the gulf between modest IT spending increases and the explosive global growth of digital content. LSI products now touch data at virtually every point from source to consumption – from datacenter storage and enterprise and mobile networks to client devices including personal computers and Ultrabooks.

Under Talwalkar’s leadership, LSI has delivered business and financial growth ahead of its peers. The company was named one of the 100 Most Innovative Global Companies by Thomson Reuters and recognized as one of the Healthiest Places to Work in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Built strong leadership team

To focus LSI on key markets and help customers move, manage and store digital information faster, more efficiently and at lower cost, Talwalkar built a strong leadership team that includes former Hewlett-Packard and Intel executives. The team is driving shareholder value and LSI’s growth strategy through mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, product development and improved operational efficiency.

Transforming LSI

His focused transformation of LSI has encompassed eight acquisitions and multiple divestitures – including the sell-off of the company’s external storage business to NetApp, a merger with Agere Systems and the acquisition of SandForce. The SandForce products gave LSI a strong position in the fast-growing market for solid state storage. Today, LSI is positioned for long-term growth with a broad portfolio of smart silicon solutions that target the rapidly expanding datacenter, mobile networking and client computing markets.

25 years of experience

Talwalkar’s 25 years of experience in high technology spans research, product development, marketing, general management, business strategy development and the creation of new industry categories. He joined LSI in 2005 from Intel Corporation, where he served as vice president and co-general manager of the Digital Enterprise Group, comprised of Intel's business client, server, storage and communications businesses. Previously, he served as vice president and general manager for the Intel Enterprise Platform Group. In this position he focused on developing, marketing and supporting Intel business strategies for enterprise computing. Prior to joining Intel in 1993, he held senior engineering and marketing management positions at Sequent Computer Systems (now part of IBM), Bipolar Integrated Technology Inc. and Lattice Semiconductor Inc.

Talwalkar is a member of the Board of Directors of Lam Research Corporation. He is also on the Board of the U.S. Semiconductor Association, where he serves as a member of the U.S. delegation for World Semiconductor Council proceedings.

Talwalkar received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University in 1985.
