LSI StorageLSI designs semiconductors and software that accelerate storage and networking in datacenters, mobile networks and client computing. Our technology is the intelligence critical to enhanced application performance, and is applied in solutions created in collaboration with our partners.

The amount of data and network traffic is growing at a rate greater than 30% a year. LSI is focused on creating long-term value for our stockholders by meeting the world’s need for intelligent silicon solutions to challenges posed by the massive flow of data and data traffic. Over several years we redesigned LSI to help customers meet these challenges and are seizing the opportunities arising from major inflection points in the fastest-growing areas of IT: datacenters, mobile networks and flash memory-based products.

Close collaboration with customers helps LSI understand end-user application environments, and the problems end customers need to solve. LSI has a unique engagement model based on our ability to provide both standard and custom hardware, firmware and software. Over 3,000 of our global employees are associated with product development, and we have in excess of 11,000 U.S. patents and patent applications. Increasingly software is fundamental to winning complex silicon system-on-a-chip (SoCs) designs in the marketplace, and our capabilities give us a strong competitive advantage.

Winning in a Datacentric Era

LSI, Datacentric EraToday’s businesses want to affordably maximize the value from data. Whether it’s big data and analytics, running applications over the cloud, or simply storing and sharing videos across the Internet and mobile base stations, a massive amount of data competes for space and priority in datacenters and mobile networks. Customers turn to LSI to provide intelligence that helps them understand, prioritize, store and protect their own or their customers’ data.

LSI’s thumbprint is on every critical intersection of the data deluge. We offer products that are power efficient, enable the use of fewer servers, or that prioritize and move information with high efficiency. As a result, we are winning business in growth areas such as flash, mobile networking and hyperscale datacenters.

The world continues to generate a massive amount of data that needs to be stored. Whether it is traditional hard disk drives, hybrid drives or solid state drives, LSI has critical, enabling storage technology.

Datacenters are also driving rapid innovation, led by the largest social media and cloud companies. In their hyperscale datacenters they are churning trillions of bits of data per hour, and these companies are bringing new opportunity for LSI. Our history and storage knowledge, new flash products and the ability to look across the whole ecosystem makes us a valued and collaborative partner to help architect the datacenters of the future. For example, our growing business in PCIe® flash adapters helps customers as they turn to flash storage and flash caching to reduce latency, power consumption and to meet application performance requirements.

A Silicon Leader in Datacenter and Mobile Network Infrastructures

Mobile networks are about delivering content fast, when it is needed, and a seamless, confident end-user experience, areas where our intelligent silicon makes a huge difference. Over the past few years, LSI has secured key competitive wins that have increased our footprint and positioned us well in the wireless base station and backhaul infrastructure.

Financial and Business Highlights

As of July 2013, LSI is generating cash and is debt-free. We have returned more than $2 billion to shareholders through share repurchase over the past six years and announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.03 per common share in the second quarter, 2013. LSI intends to pay a regular quarterly cash dividend on its common stock. Future dividends will be subject to Board approval.
