LSI First to Ship More Than One Million SAS ROC ICs

Milestone highlights server OEM demand for the proven, reliable and high performance LSI SAS1078 SAS ROC

 

MILPITAS, Calif., July 17, 2007 – LSI Corporation (NYSE:LSI), the leading provider of solutions for the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) market, today announced it has shipped more than one million SAS RAID-on-Chip (ROC) ICs. LSI reached this milestone in just 18 months, highlighting the popularity of the LSI SAS1078 ROC controller IC with enterprise server OEMs and reflecting the rapid growth of the SAS market.

IDC estimates that SAS hard disk drive (HDD) shipments to enterprise storage and server applications in 2007 will be more than triple 2006 shipments. IDC predicts SAS will achieve 26 percent enterprise market share in 2007, out-shipping all other drive interfaces.
