For over a decade, LSI and Microsoft have enjoyed a winning relationship focused on delivering leading-edge storage technologies to our customers. Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 program is one example of our collaboration efforts.

Many organizations use Microsoft SQL Server as their primary database to meet a variety of business needs - from the ability to better understand their customers, to making strategic proactive decisions - in order to stay ahead of the competition. The introduction of SQL Server 2014 builds upon its mission-critical capabilities by providing breakthrough performance, availability and feature sets for crucial database applications. Key features include Buffer Pool Extension (BPE), which increases the capacity to read pages for query execution, and In-Memory OLTP (Online Transaction Processing), designed to improve workload performance consisting of short and highly concurrent transactions for processing. Both of these features are leading the way in improved database performance.

With a mutual goal of solving customer challenges in the datacenter, LSI and SQL Server engineering teams work together on various solutions to deliver on customer satisfaction. An example of this is Microsoft’s SQL Server 2014 which utilizes the LSI® Nytro WarpDrive® flash accelerator card during development and testing in order to achieve low latency and reliability. This solution is designed to fully enable SQL Server 2014 program BPE and In-Memory OLTP features for maximum results. Database administrators can now take advantage of SQL Server 2014 programs high performance features in conjunction with the low latency, high performance, and power efficiency of PCIe® flash.

From storage, data protection, high availability and accelerating Microsoft SQL Server database, our collaboration is delivering innovative solutions for our customers now and in the years to come.
