7900 HPC Storage System

7900 HPC Storage System

The LSI Engenio 7900 HPC storage system is engineered to provide HPC-class performance with uncompromising uptime to meet the demands of today’s most demanding applications. This unique combination makes it an ideal solution for HPC environments with massive amounts of critical data and computing demands that require enterprise-class availability.

With a demonstrated 6.4 GB/s of sustained bandwidth, and the flexibility of RAID protection levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 6 and 10, the 7900 HPC storage system delivers the performance and availability required to meet the escalating bandwidth and I/O demands of today’s performance-driven applications.

With the addition of the DE6900 high-density drive enclosure, the 7900 HPC storage system efficiently handles the most massive capacity requirements. Dense storage capacity directly translates into savings on administration, floor space and power consumption while continuing to provide high performance for HPC applications. Reliability and serviceability are paramount in the unique design of the DE6900’s front load drives and controlled drawer movement.

Based on the seventh-generation XBB2 architecture, the 7900 HPC storage system is the culmination of 30 years of design knowledge and firmware development. With almost 400,000 systems implemented across the most demanding market segments, LSI has a long-standing history of delivering highly available storage for environments requiring uninterrupted data access. The 7900 HPC storage system, with redundancy throughout and no single point of failure, continues this tradition and delivers industry-leading uptime to ensure uninterrupted data access and bullet-proof data protection.

The 7900 HPC storage system is designed to seamlessly adapt to evolving infrastructure, application and capacity requirements. With field-replaceable interfaces that include Fibre Channel (FC) and InfiniBand (IB), the 7900 HPC storage system can quickly and easily adapt to change for optimized price/performance and investment protection. The addition of 8Gbps FC to the field-replaceable interfaces consolidates and simplifies SAN infrastructure by decreasing the number of host and switch ports needed for the same or better performance.

The next-generation 7900 HPC storage system provides HPC customers with a flexible, high-performance storage system designed to ensure continuous high-speed data accessibility and protection across a wide-range of compute-intensive, high-performance workloads.
