3994 Storage System
The Engenio 3994 storage system combines the most advanced 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel technology with our time-proven designs for enterprise-class RAID storage to create a fully-featured storage system optimized for the unique requirements of the mid-range customer. Its robust functionality, affordable entry-point, online scalability, intuitive administration, bullet-proof reliability, and exceptional performance value sets a new standard for mid-range disk.
Dual-active 3994 controllers and up to 16 Fibre Channel or SATA drives are integrated within a new RoHS-compliant, 3U, rack-mountable controller enclosure. It has eight 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel host ports for direct host or fabric SAN attachment, four 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel switched-loop drive ports for capacity expansion, and supports 4GB of battery-backed cache. Up to six additional expansion drive enclosures are supported for a total capacity of 112 drives.
3992 Storage System
The LSI Engenio 3992 storage system shares all of the 3994’s best features (4 Gb/s connectivity, feature-rich functionality, and uncompromising availability and reliability), yet offers fewer host connections (four) and reduced cache (2GB) for the entry-level and lower mid-range markets.
SANtricity Storage Manager Software
SANtricity® Storage Manager software configures and administers the 3994 and 3992 storage systems. With SANtricity software, you can achieve maximum utilization of the purchased capacity through extensive configuration flexibility and custom performance tuning. SANtricity software allows continuous access to user data during administrative tasks, including configuration, reconfiguration, expansion, and maintenance of the system.
The fully-integrated replication features found in SANtricity software extend its unparalleled functionality and create even more powerful storage. With multiple replication offerings (snapshot, volume copy, and remote volume mirror), you can choose the method that best meets your data utilization and protection requirements.
